We view life through our own lens and filter out what doesn’t conform and fit into our world view. Every one of us has a different world view. We match them to our expectations and live out a story of what we expect and why.
We build a narrative around every interaction we have, based on our own beliefs and values, and that narrative is rarely accurate as we’d like to admit.
It gets easier to work our way through a situation if we reframe our retelling with, “maybe the way this person is saying this is not necessarily the way they intended for me to hear and experience it.”
Sometimes the way a person says or does something is not necessarily the way they intended it to be communicated, the person receiving the information puts it into their language through their filters based on their values, beliefs and world view.
