Why some people almost reinvent their life

In the United States alone, more than thirty-one million people between the ages forty-four and seventy want what is often called an “encore” career – work that combines personal meaning, continued income, and social purpose.

Some of those thirty-one million have created and reinvented their future, and many others have no idea where to begin and fear it’s almost too late in life to make a significant change.

Coming up

CHANGE: Fear it's too late

Time is flying by, and you don't seem to be doing anything with it.

Meaning

Life is worthless and meaningless. It is only the meaning we put on it.

Purpose

What's the purpose of your future existence.

Regret/No Regret

WARNING: If you carry on living an unfulfilled life, you pretty much will regret it. trust me.

CHANGE: Fear it’s too late

  • Is time flying by, and you don’t seem to be doing anything with it
  • You don’t believe you can change, and perhaps you shouldn’t
  • Making these changes is scary

Have questions like these kept you awake at night, wondering what will happen to your life in the future? They did for me.

What’s stopping you? What are you worried about? Reinventing yourself can feel like a big step. And when you change, your life will change, and the people around you will notice that in you. Some will welcome it, and others will not for whatever reason (usually a selfish one). But this is your reinvented life, and you do not need anyone’s permission to live it. Or do you?

  • Who else needs to be in on your reinvented life?
  • Who else will it affect?
  • Who else is coming on this journey with you?
  • Who else’s support do you need?

These are some of the questions I ask my clients that must be addressed before they embark on their journey. Not having the people on board to support you is one of the surest ways of it failing.

You’re never too old to change. There’s no such thing as ‘past it’! Daring to dream of change is your first step. And I’m here to help you reinvent your life. Change can feel difficult for anyone. That’s why working with a coach like me makes it possible. With my support, you’ll have what you need to move forward.

Old set in your ways belief:

It's too late ...

New set in your ways belief:

It’s never too late to reinvent your life.

Meaning

Life is worthless and meaningless. It is only the meaning we put on it.

Suppose I asked you to sum up your life to date, what it has meant to you in one sentence. What would it be? For example, when I asked my clients, they said things like, “Unfulfilled life, empty lacking in excitement”, “It hasn’t turned out how I wanted it to be. I wished I could’ve done it differently” to name a few. How has yours turned out? Just as you planned? Write it down:

My life to date can be summed up as someone who: …………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

Take the reinvention journey self-evaluation, find out where you are on the road to freedom

Purpose

What’s the purpose of your future existence? What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want to be known for? What is it you want to Be, Do, and Have for your future self? More of the same or a reinvented one? Write  it down what your purpose is:

Words to think about when writing your future purpose: Create the life I want,  Playful, Adventurous, Curious, Passionate, Bold, Inner child, Excited, Enthusiastic, love, Companionship, Joy, Relationship, Positive, Grow, Travel, Confident, Be you, Freedom, Fulfilled, Enjoy life, No apologies, No regrets,  Fun, Not serious, Energy, and any other words that come to mind for you.

My future purpose is:

I want to be: …………………………………………………………………………………

I want to do: ……………………………………………………………………………….

I want to have:  ………………………………………………………………………….

I want to be known for:  ……………………………………………………………

What did it feel like writing your future self? Thinking of those words, did they inspire you to become who you wanted to be? Or, did they fill you with fear and dread? I can help you repurpose a reinvented you?

Reinvent: change something so much that it appears to be entirely new

Regret

Let me take you to your future. One where you reminisce about what you could’ve should’ve been, done and had. Suddenly, you realise that this isn’t what you intended your life to be like—a life full of regret that has left you unfulfilled, fearful and miserable.

Warning: If you carry on living an unfulfilled life, you pretty much will regret it. Trust me.

No regret

Now, let me take you to a different future. I call it the rocking chair test. It’s late evening, the air is still warm; you are sitting outside on your deck, and as you sit there looking up at the clear moonlight sky with all the distant stars twinkling, you look back and reminisce about your life—all the things you have accomplished. A life of no regrets, a life full of joy, curiosity and fun – insert your own words here to describe your life: ……………………………………………………………………

Your reinvention

I want you to pack up your past bring out your fun side and passion, creating the life you want and deserve with no apologies or regrets.
